In Lucknow, a summit titled “Planet Vs Plastic” convened to commemorate World Earth Day and address the environmental crisis posed by plastic pollution. The event aimed to educate and inspire individuals to take action towards a more sustainable future. 

Key speakers, including Dr. Heera Lal, Chairman and Administrator, Greater Sharda Sahayak Project, Raj Kumar, Managing Director Swachh Bharat Mission Uttar Pradesh, and Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, President CMS and Padmashree Sudha Singh emphasized the importance of addressing environmental crisis. They highlighted the detrimental effects of plastic pollution on our ecosystems and urged participants to adopt eco-friendly practices.

Dr. Lal stressed the critical role of oxygen production and rainwater harvesting in sustaining life on Earth. He encouraged attendees to strive for a pollution-free environment and underscored the importance of preserving natural resources for future generations.

Geeta Gandhi Kingdon emphasized the need to eliminate plastic waste from a global perspective. In this context, he especially pointed out the need to clean the waste dumped in rivers, ponds etc., which is polluting the environment.

Panel discussions facilitated meaningful conversations on practical solutions to environmental issues. Experts shared insights on innovative approaches to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainable living.

Four group discussions were held, featuring participants such as Arun Sinha, Retired Additional Chief Secretary; Sanjay Bhoosreddy, Retired Additional Chief Secretary and Chairman RERA UP; Ashutosh Shukla, State Editor of Dainik Jagran; Sudhir Mishra, Resident Editor of Navbharat Times; and Pranshu Mishra, Resident Editor of Hindustan, who attended the discussions.
